Change Management
As experienced Lean Six Sigma practitioners LTS consultants understand that it is important to select the right model, have a good plan to get there and use solid strategies to execute the plan.
However, human factors have to be included in the change equation for a logical well-designed strategy for change. If change strategy is not centered on people it will end up being ‘the flavour of the month'.
One of the components of Lean Six Sigma that many other consulting companies ignore is the fact that the Lean Six Sigma methodology can be implemented more effectively and executed far more smoothly if human factors are considered in equal measure with the deployment strategy.
A large-scale change within an organization must be led by a team that has the following characteristics:
- Credibility within the Canadian health sector
- The skill and knowledge to recognize the ‘change zealots' of an organization who can be trusted to spread the news of the benefits of change throughout the organization.
- Ensure ‘early wins' to keep the momentum building. LTS is able to help Leaders pick the right launch point to ensure these 'early wins'
- Experience in developing and executing program communication plans. Having a consistent message is important but the benefits of change cannot be just in the form of emails, newsletters or memos. Showing the benefits of change are important, rather than telling employees about the benefits of change, and can make the difference between success and an aborted attempt at change. LTS will work with the organization to ensure a communication plan is skilfully designed and executed.
- Ability to create a sense of urgency. With no sense of urgency a change effort cannot overcome institutional roadblocks. With the cost of healthcare outstripping inflation we can no longer keep doing what we have been doing. Things must change and the time is now for those changes. Staff feel it and leadership knows it. LTS has worked with many teams to create this sense of urgency.
- Ability to break down barriers. Barriers fall more easily as more people are converted to the new way of doing things. Resistance to change can be overcome by understanding the reasons for resistance and focusing on that, verses trying to force the change. With the President of LTS being a Certified Human Resource Practitioner the resistance to change is mitigated.
- To provide a vision of a better day. LTS has worked with hundreds of front-line staff and know and understand their frustrations. But we have also helped them improve. As a result, we have many stories of success that are used to provide that vision.
